Banquet part 2

New girls captain: Erin. this is rather surprising to say the least. next year she will only be able to attend Friday practices, unless her legs make a miraculous recovery. do to the new rule which is mostly because of her ability to distract the other girls and Kevin from what they should be doing whenever she is sitting down.

New Guys/overall Captain: Austin: well i can't say i didn't see it coming I am still slightly disappointed but he will do a good job and besides which i still intend to teach whatever newbies we get next year everything i can.

Awards for the year well i don't really care to go over everything everyone was awarded so I'm doing my own awards ceremony right now.

Kylie: trooper award! for fencing for about a month with broken fingers and saving the girls varsity team on more than one occasion from being eliminated.

Colin, Zack: the cocky award! for your undying belief that next year you will make varsity i really do appreciate your enthusiasm but i will keep my opinion on your odds to myself.

Ben: infighting award!

Rob: uncanny ability to be very quite award!

Kevin: Terrible singing award! cocky award! empty headed award! unintentionally setting up amazing that's what she said jokes for the rest of us to make award!

Bronwin: violence award!

Erin: Distraction award!

Sarah D: Vengeance award! for finally becoming an offensive fencer!

Drew: What did you spend the season doing award?!

Timmy: Voice of reason and Sanity award!

Tim: Pervy jokes award! & the finally asked her out after 3 weeks of her hanging around to watch you practice award!

Sarah W: talking like a 5 year old to make everyone laugh award!

Andrew: linked at the seat award! for always sitting down next to Erin during practice when you should have been fencing

Austin: the came back home, got knocked down, got back up, dusted yourself off, then came out swinging award! for the full story read some of my earlier post about my varsity showdown with Austin.

Patrick: Insanity award! i have saved the best for last. Patrick held off challenging Timmy for two weeks leaving him only one chance to make varsity. he lost after what started as a terrific bout and then fell apart after 9-9. you practically drove me insane with your numerous complaints. you swore you were going to quit the team on more then one occasion. and yet despite the fact that you never fenced varsity you still out of the blue got your letter this year. =^) I really am happy for you Pat just incredible confused =^? and arguing whether or not its right for you to have your letter while simultaneously thinking hurray we really did both get our letters this year. so I'm not sure were i stand on this just yet but since you were as shocked as i was i guess i wont hold it against you ;)

i feel like it would be wrong to give my self an award so brief outline of season from my point of view. beat Patrick for my varsity spot in an incredibly tense bout. beat Austin to retain my varsity spot. fenced varsity at every meet, went to ECC's, States, and won the final amazing, dare i say fantastic, win at state teams to secure the fifth place spot for guys varsity. got my letter, a nice little pin to go with the letter, a cool medal that everyone got, and more confidence than the guy in those really annoying male enhancement commercials, i am now a USFA fencer and i am working towards getting ranked.

Coach Floyd: Words of Wisdom Award! you always know what to say to best motivate the team and always give good advice

Coach Aron: Basics Award! you always manage to pound the basics into the new guys and you do it early enough in the season that they have time to develop there own technique.

Coach/Armorer Ashly: Fix it Award! for keeping the every ones gear in a usable state for the whole season.

Coach Juhas: (sry the spelling is probably off but i know it starts with a J and that's the best i could do sounding it out) the support award you came to every event you could attend and were always very supportive of us. for which, i at least, am very grateful.

highlights for me tonight (not all good). on the slide show they had playing one of the slides was my blogs title and header. i have no idea were whoever made the slide show got it, because as far as i know only Pat ever read my blog, but i intend to find out. then here is the crappy highlight they had a bunch of Styrofoam swords and we had a free for all fight in the cafe and i retreated into and over one of Ben's little brothers. he then hit his head on the floor, hard, as a result which means i feel awful. i was retreating and he was behind me and i didn't see him and well i feel like @#$% about it. final highlight my Mom's quilt got auctioned off for $60.

All Around Super Amazing Day!!!

hey you read the title and what could make a fencing nut who's season just ended this happy well i guess i should tell you. Today i got my braces off!!!! =^D came home spent the next 2 hours doing homework that was do today that i was to tired to do yesterday then i went back to school for the last 5 min. of class because my mom said that i had top go to school if i wanted to go to our last practice. so i go in get my pass go to class and within thirty seconds Morgan Ross figures out that i got my braces of (Eagle Eye Award) so then i am out of there run upstairs to get the math homework and hand in what was do. that done i run to fencing for our last practice where we find out the girls finished 7th (as a team not as individuals) and therefore being in the top 8 they are going to Team States!!! =^D this was totally unexpected! now immediately after that coach turns on us guys and starts talking about how we did not do as well. and then he says in this long drawn out way of his that he uses when he messes with us, "They only made 8th place"!!!!!!! =^D our Guys and Girls both qualified for State Teams!!!!!!! =^D so we have another week of practice and this Saturday we are going to Fairfield for state teams!!!! oh and my final ranking from state individuals was 37th place out of 70 some odd fencers!!!!=^D so lets see no more braces, another week of practice, our team is going to states for guys and girls and at state individuals i placed in the upper half. i don't think this day could get any better!!!!!!!! =^D oh and tomorrow i have 4+ hours to sit in the cafeteria do homework and brag about the fencing team too anyone who will listen while the freshman and sophomores are stuck taking CAPT Tests. so tomorrow looks to be a good day as well. =^)

Ice Scatters

hey I'm supposed to be doing physics but my Mom is watching the Olympics which is really distracting and right now they are showing the ice skaters and it just hit me all of a sudden that i have an awful lot of respect for them. i have seen them fall down one second and get right back up the next. no tears, no pouting, no shouting, they just keep going and they do an amazing job of not allowing it to phase them. i have seen fencers who after being scored on three times in a row during a 15 point bout start to fall apart mentally, in a 15 point bout 3 points is not a big deal, but you have guys who will start banging there foil tips on the ground, ect, because they have lost there mental edge. but skaters fall down once doing things that are physically beyond most people, and they are guaranteed too not do well, and yet they get up and go on like nothing ever happened. that never fails to blow me away. Oh and when they do a flawless job i am even more impressed. especially considering the UNIMAGINABLE amount of pressure that is placed on them. so that is why i am going to do my second awards ceremony, and award the girls skating in the Olympics what I'm going to call the Nerves of Steel award! and because i just saw one of the skaters who put on an amazing performance and could easily have earned a medal but fell just a little short. she actually got up gave a huge smile and cheered as loud as the rest of the stadium for the girl from South Korea who won the Gold Medal. so i am also awarding them the good sportsmanship award! all for one and one for all is supposed to be a fencing mentality but again these girls who aren't even on the same team are better at it then many fencers are with their own teammates. ladies you deserve to be referenced by Coach Floyd during his next lecture about team spirit and sportsmanship. you probably wont be since he most likely does not have time to watch TV at all anymore, but still the way you conducted yourselves out their deserves nothing short of praise. Way to be and congratulations too all of you on an amazing performance!

ECC's end results

OK lets see here Kevin placed 2nd out of 36 and Austin placed 4th. let me say this before i start ranting and forget Kevin, Austin you both did fantastic today way to represent!!!! Timmy also had an amazing day he lasted until the third round (i think) anyway his fencing was fantastic today or so i heard didn't actually get to see him fence. sry Timmy. now i did absolutely wretched today i could not for the life of me get into the zone and i lost my first DE (direct elimination) bout 15 to 12 not a bad lose but that was the end of my fencing for the day =^( anyhow i am going to do something new today my own awards ceremony!! first Award goes to Austin for eliciting one of the most violent response from a fencer that i have ever seen his opponent basically slammed his entire blade against the ground starting at the bell and going all the way down the blade to the tip all in one smooth action. next award is a joint award and it goes to Kevin (our Kevin) and Won-He (hope i spelled that right) of NFA it is for the most amazing bout of the day first Kevin was on a role Won-He couldn't even touch him it was i don't know 10 1 or something and then out of nowhere Won-He starts racking up points and Kevin just can't do a thing about it so before you know it the score is Won-He 11 Kevin 10 then Kevin starts doing something different and the score slowly shifts back to his favor final score Kevin 15 Won-He 12 absolutely unbelievable insane and nerve wracking i don't have anything to say except that that was easily the best bout of the day and that they should both be proud. the final award goes to Tim who for reasons i am not entirely clear about or even care about did not fence today but came anyway. so what could i possibly give him an award for you ask? well that would be for sitting in exactly the same place without moving more than a few inches for eh three + hours with his girlfriend. ;^) hahaha
